‘Jens has the unique talent of serving up his intricate technique in a simple fashion!’
(Chapman James, Besonic.com)
J.H. was raised in Morehead City, North Carolina until he went to school in Germany. He took up the guitar some twenty years ago, completely self-taught, later he studied music & English.
For about 25 years he has been a working musician live, in the studio and giving guitar-lessons. His passion for the guitar has taken him down many diverse stylistic paths, from his roots in folk and jazz, through blues, rock, pop, funk and classical music. Over the years he had his share in all kinds of music, working solo, or as a sideman in bands, big bands and even orchestras. Collecting lots of experience with countless gigs and sessions he had the chance to develop his own style and unique kind of playing piano influenced fingerstyle guitar and singer/songwriter music, but still his main roots would be blues, jazz & folk with a funky soul, his debut solo album, "Back On The Track", was released in 1999 on which his acoustic guitar playing is prominently featured. Currently he is working solo and in duos on guitar, vocals, bass and mandolin.
Besides playing and teaching he writes reviews, workshops and interviews for the German Magazine 'Akustik Gitarre'. |
